FAQ

GPS Coordinates – 18°10’10.0″S 24°20’34.5″E

From Kasane/Chobe Riverfront/Namibia:

Leave Kasane and follow the transit road(A33) through the park to Ngoma Gate. Turn left on to the paved road towards Mabele/Kachikau/Savuti (or, if coming from the border with Namibia, you will turn right on this road). Follow the tarmac road until it ends at the village of Kachikau. Very soon after the sandy road begins you will see a sign to turn right to Chobe Hideaway. From this point you will follow the signs all the way to the camp.

From Savuti/Linyanti/Maun:

You will pass through Savuti and continue to Ghoha Gate. Immediately after Ghoha Gate you see our sign to turn to the left. You can follow our signs all the way to camp from here.

Use the GPS coordinates 18°10’10.0″S 24°20’34.5″E for the most accurate directions to our lodge.

We recommend that you purchase a local SIM card from the Orange network upon arrival in Botswana, as it offers the best connectivity in the Chobe region. Please note that basic phones tend to have better connectivity than smartphones in our region. However, if disconnecting from the digital world is part of your retreat plan, you can look forward to losing reception once you leave Kachikau.

The Chobe region is teeming with wildlife. Our guests can take a self-drive game viewing tour around the area, or in Chobe National Park at Savuti or Linyanti.

For a more immersive experience, consider a River Cruise Drive in the Chobe National Park from the Ngoma Gate, renowned for its lion sightings. Our staff is always available to provide more information about the best locations for game viewing.

Chobe Hideaway operates on a self-catering basis. Please bring all your preferred food and drink items. We provide drinkable and sweet water at the lodge.

Please ensure you stock up on fuel (and everything else you need) in Kasane or Maun. If you plan to travel onwards to Savuti or Moremi, please note that the next available fuel station will be in Maun. Keep in mind that driving in heavy sand with a 4×4 vehicle consumes more fuel than an average dirt road. The last fuel station (coming from Kasane) is at Muchenje.

The chalets have access to a 220-volt connection point for basic electronic use, like charging phones and laptops. Please refrain from using hairdryers or heavy electronics as they may overload our solar power system.

For the campground, there are communal sockets for charging mobile phones at the reception.

Each spacious double room comes with a private entrance, tea and coffee maker, private bathroom with a shower, seating area, dining area, terrace and an outdoor dining area. Each unit has a queen-sized bed and furniture. Each unit is suitable for two adults.

We provide the initial batch of firewood for heating your shower water, which uses a fire-heated system called a “donkey”. For cooking and campfires, we advise bringing extra wood with you.
