Chobe Hideaway

Wild At Heart.

Experience the Genuine Botswana

Chobe Hideaway is an ecolodge and campsite in Northern Botswana offering tranquility and a wilderness feeling, all within easy reach of nearby destinations.

We offer four cabins complete with comfortable queen-size beds and a balcony for watching the wildlife visiting our waterhole. Underneath each cabin is a kitchen and bathroom with hot showers. There is also a braai and firepit for each cabin.

Our shady campsite has clean ablution facilities and hot showers in the evening. We offer wi-fi and 220V charging points for mobile devices in our reception.

We are located in the Chobe Wildlife Corridor between Kasane and Savuti, and you can explore both areas using Chobe Hideaway as your base.

Enjoy the rare privilege of wildlife roaming freely to our watering hole every day—right outside your door. Elephants are the most noticeable visitor, but giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, warthog and impala come well. Wild dogs and roan antelope are occasional visitors, while hyena can be heard around the camp at night. There is a variety of birdlife in the camp and surrounding areas, including resident Meyer’s parrots.

Location

Approximately 2 hours from Kasane, and 1.5 hours to Savuti or Linyanti, Chobe Hideaway makes an excellent base for exploring the surrounding areas of Chobe National Park, where the campsites are often fully booked.

Our region, while not part of the National Park, serves a vital role as transit zone for animals migrating between areas of the park. Conservation and sustainable development are managed by a non-profit organization, the Chobe Enclave Conservation Trust. Being outside the National Park means that there are no entrance fees to pay.

Our Cabins

Our charming cabins each feature a queen-sized bed, sitting area and balcony with a view. Underneath is a practical kitchenette and a private bathroom. Enjoy hot water showers heated the traditional way—via a “donkey boiler” fire. Relax on your balcony with a drink while wildlife visits the waterhole just steps away. Each cabin has its own covered braai and picnic area.

Our Campsite

Our pleasant campsite offers clean communal ablution blocks, a braai (barbecue) area, an observation tower, and nightly hot showers. Dishwashing and small-device 220 V charging are available at reception.

Experience & Activities

Adventure awaits! Venture out on thrilling game drives, peaceful boat trips, or birdwatching excursions—easily accessible from our camp.

Game Drives

Our place is one of the closest to options to Savuti, Linyanti, and the Chobe Riverfront section – the main areas for game drives in Chobe National Park. Plus there is wildlife roaming our surrounding area.

Chilling at Camp

Chobe Hideaway is a peaceful and relaxed place. Spending a few days at camp with a good book, touring the area spotting wildlife, or waiting to see who visits the waterhole are all great ways to take a break from the stress of hectic safari schedules.

Visit Victoria Falls

A visit to the world’s largest waterfall is one of the highlights of a trip to southern Africa. It can be reached in about 3 hours from our camp, either with a day or trip or longer excursion.

Wildlife

The Chobe region is a genuine African wilderness. The riverfront section, which starts at Kasane and extends to Ngoma Gate, is mostly focused on the Chobe River flood plains. Here elephants, giraffes, buffalo and other large mammals hang out i the water during the heat of the day. Smaller mammals come to drink. This area is perfect for bird watchers as many types of shorebirds and waterbirds are easily seen. Crocodiles and other reptiles stalk the shores.

The Savuti area is famous for its lion and leopard sightings, and can be reached for Chobe Hideaway for a day trip. Many other big mammals are present, especially in the drier seasons when they gather around the few remaining water holes. The small campsite there is often full and we are the closest option outside the park gates.
