A visit to the world’s largest waterfall is one of the highlights of a trip to southern Africa. Spanning the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, the falls form the world’s largest sheet of falling water, creating a continuous mist that nourishes a small rainforest along the edge. They are best experienced from the network of walking paths that trace the cliffside inside the Victoria Falls National Park. You can also be on the lookout for birds like the trumpeter hornbill.
The falls are most often visited from the Zimbabwe side, which is around 3 hours from our camp and includes a relatively stress-free border crossing, so it can be done as a day trip. You can also stay in the pleasant town of Victoria Falls before or after your visit to Chobe Hideaway, where there is an international airport. Other activities here include helicopter tours, Zambezi river cruises and bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls bridge.
