Chobe Hideaway is located within driving distance of three different excellent game drives areas of Chobe National Park – Savuti, Linyanti and the riverfront section, also known as Serondella, all of which can be reached in two hours or less. That makes us a great base to explore this region. Many of our guests make Chobe Hideaway their home for a few days and set out on game drives to these areas.
Most of our guests are self-drivers, and we provide assistance in getting to and from the gates so you can navigate yourself on a game drive in the park. We also organize guides and vehicles upon request for guided game drives – for this please ask us in advance.
The Chobe Riverfront section is home to many elephants and other grazers, who come to the Chobe river to drink daily. Unlike many game drive locations across Africa, safaris here can be productive throughout the day to the presence of water. The drive along the riverbank is also good for spotting hippos, crocodiles, and many species of birds who inhabit the river and its banks.
Savuti is famous for predator sightings. Lions and leopards are quite frequently spotted here, while cheetahs and wild dogs are present, but more rarely seen. Elephant, buffalo, and many other grazers are present in large numbers. Birding is excellent year round, but especially in the wet season.
Linyanti is one of the most peaceful and least visited of the major areas of thee park. In fact, it is mostly famous among self-drivers for its notoriously sandy and difficult roads. Once you have made the trip though, the rewards are obvious. It’s a beautiful area along the river with abundant game sightings, beautiful landscapes and fewer visitors.
We also have a network of roads around our camp where you can meet many different animals without driving too far.
